Why “The Learning Train – ABC’s” Is a Must-Have for Early Childhood Literacy

When it comes to early literacy, the foundation starts with the alphabet and The Learning Train – ABC’s is designed to make that introduction exciting and effective. Each letter is featured in a train car along with a related image and a short phrase that connects the letter to its sound. This simple but powerful combination helps young learners understand both the name and sound of each letter in a way that’s easy to remember and fun to explore.

As children trace and reprint letters and color the accompanying illustrations, they’re not just learning they’re developing the fine motor skills and visual recognition needed for writing and reading. The repetition of letter-sound associations enhances early phonemic awareness, making this book a perfect pre-phonics tool. The interactive nature of the pages keeps young minds engaged, reinforcing key skills without ever feeling like a chore.

In addition to being a learning tool, the book can also become a visual centerpiece in the classroom. Teachers can use the provided instructions to turn the train pages into a cheerful alphabet wall banner that keeps the ABCs visible and accessible throughout the school day. Whether in a traditional classroom, a daycare center, or a homeschooling environment, The Learning Train – ABC’s is a valuable resource that supports literacy development with creativity, structure, and joy.

What makes this resource even more special is its adaptability it works just as well for group instruction as it does for independent or guided learning. It also supports different learning styles, offering visual, kinesthetic, and auditory elements that help ensure every child can succeed. With The Learning Train – ABC’s, educators and parents alike gain a flexible, enriching tool that makes learning letters an experience to look forward to.

After leaving full-time teaching, Steve tutored part-time in low-income after school programs. He's continued to pursue his 'other passion' to design creative children's educational materials, using computer graphics, writing skills and educational experiences.
