All Aboard “The Learning Train” – A Fun Ride Through the ABCs!

Is your child ready to hop aboard the ABC express? The Learning Train – ABC’s turns early literacy into a delightful journey that introduces children to the alphabet in a fun, visual, and hands-on way. Perfect for daycare, kindergarten, and first-grade learners, this book features each letter of the alphabet both uppercase and lowercase inside its own colorful train car, along with a related image and a simple phonetic phrase, like “A is for Angel, ă as in apple.” It’s an engaging way to blend letter recognition with sound association.

As children move through the pages, they color, trace, and reprint letters, helping them build fine motor skills, improve eye-hand coordination, and become familiar with how each letter looks and sounds. The combination of art, repetition, and phonetic cues lays the groundwork for essential pre-phonics skills in a format that feels more like play than work. It’s a wonderful blend of creativity and early education, keeping kids engaged while giving them a head start in literacy.

For teachers and homeschoolers, the book also includes optional instructions to transform its pages into a vibrant wall-length ABC train banner. This makes it an excellent visual reinforcement tool in the classroom or home learning space. Whether you’re working one-on-one with a child or using it in a group setting, The Learning Train – ABC’s is a joyful ride toward reading readiness. All aboard for fun and learning!

Because it’s printable and designed with clear visuals, it’s also easy to customize or extend learning activities—children can cut out train cars, create their own alphabet booklets, or even act out sounds and stories based on the featured letters. The flexibility of The Learning Train – ABC’s makes it more than just a workbook—it becomes a creative resource that grows with the learner.

He developed interests in art, writing and science experiments, while growing up in a large family on the south side of Chicago. After taking some art courses at the American Academy of Art, Steve worked at a couple print shops for over 5 years as a paste-up artist. He transferred to Chicago State University (CSU), graduating with a BA degree and an Illinois Elementary Teachers Certificate. Steve sub-taught a few years in CPS schools, took additional courses at CSU and became a Library-media and Art teacher at 2 CPS primary schools. He's also volunteered in several Christian churches' children-related programs. While teaching, Steve was continually designing creative lesson plans and art projects, where his interests in art, writing and educational design coalesced. "If I had to do it over, I'd prefer to have pursued a Curriculum Design path, but for some creative people, like myself, it took years to find and develop my interdisciplinary niche. After leaving full-time teaching, Steve tutored part-time in low-income after school programs. He's continued to pursue his 'other passion' to design creative children's educational materials, using computer graphics, writing skills and educational experiences. Currently, Steve Pederson has designed 3 children's workbooks (Reading levels K-3rd gr.)
